creative writing goal.
Every writing test I remember taking I have done well on though I don’t think I deserve it. I’m lucky enough that I having good test taking skills that I can get a decent grade by writing about a specific topic without really writing a fantastic piece of writing. Although the score on the paper says it’s a good piece of writing I can never shake the feeling that I could have done better, added more detail, made it flow better, or improve on the central idea. In the next 6 weeks in creative writing I would like to be able to learn how to make my writing more complete, how to add more detail and to be able to create a story that flows together instead of sounding choppy. Sometime before the class ends I would love it if we could write a piece that had little or no restrictions and expectations so that the students can experiment with new writing techniques and have a chance to write purely about what interests them. I have a very over active imagination and when I read books about far off places that exist only on paper and in my mind I’m awed by the exceptional detail and ability of the writer to convey exactly what they want the reader to see. I want to improve my own writing in this way. I know I’m no famous author but to be able to improve my writing skills to be able to more accurately convey my thoughts onto paper would be an incredible goal to achieve.
